For all those who do not know, the xató is a typical Catalan dish and in Vilafranca del Penedès, they know a lot about how to do it! The xató is the sauce that accompanies a salad made with escarole, anchovies, tuna and cod. A dish that differs in each villaage by the way of making the sauces
This Sunday, Vilafranca del Penedès celebrates the Xató Festival, is a good excuse to visit the town and get into the Ruta del Xató. Make a space in your calendar and enjoy good food and fabolous landscapes .
The capital of Penedès organizes the Xató Festival as part of the activities of the Xató Route , where since 1997 the most historic towns of Garraf and Penedès have participated with the aim of popularizing the dish and making known the different variants of the recipe to all its participants.

During the morning from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, you will find:
From 10.30 to 14.30: tasting of chatons from the five cities that make up the Ruta del Xató and traditional craft market, brocantes and painting.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m .: children’s workshops to learn how to do xató, at 11 and at 12 o’clock. Pre-registration From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: toy workshops . From 1pm to 2pm: Masterclass with chef Oriol Castro , with two Michelin stars and a magic show with the Txema Wizard.
The prices of the tickets are the following:
Full Ticket: € 9.00, including 2 portions of Xató, 1 cup, 1 wine and water tasting, 1 ration of bread + cutlery (+ gift bag while stocks last)
1 xató ration: € 4.00
1 glass + 1 wine tasting: € 2.50
