Olive oil is a basic element of the Mediterranean diet, where the most of the meals are served with an olive oil bottle on the side. For this reason, having this experience is a way of immersing yourself in the Catalan Culture.
This experience will show you the magnificent world of this liquid gold at the same time that you enjoy the beautiful countryside of Vall d’Hortons. Walking along the millenary organic olive groves, you will enjoy the quietness of the landscape with the fantastic views of Montserrat Mountains.
Our English speaking guide will explain you the difference between old and new plantations and will let you explore the different varieties of olives, Corbella and Arbequina.
Visiting the workshop where this oil is produced you will learn how the process is carried out and, finally, you will enjoy and oil tasting with typical and organic Catalan products from Vall d’Hortons like cheese, honey, cold meat, and wine.
After the visit and before returning to the city, we will go to the little village of Castelladral, located on the top of a hill. It is a privileged location because it has Montserrat Mountains at its feet and the Pre-Pyrenees on its back.

Eduardo was AMAZING! They loved him, and very much appreciated all the extra stories and information he could share having lived so long in the city not just reciting the facts and figures!
All the activities and food was amazing also, so great job all round! MOntserrat Tour with the oil tasting experience and the Gaudi City Tour.

Melanie was amazing! If I ever go back to Spain I am booking all my tours with her company. She has quaint and unique places to take you for super affordable prices, and mostly everything is private if you like. The Olive Oil Tour was great and informative. The property was beautiful, and I definitely recommend buying some chocolate bars (made with olive oil.)

Change of pace from the typical sightseeing tour
We spent a glorious 10 days touring all of the must-see sights, but ended our vacation with the private oil tasting tour–which was an interesting change of pace. We learned so much about how olive oil is made, how to distinguishes good olive oil. We loved walking the beautiful landscape of the olive tree plantings and the intimate environment where the tasting was held. We were so happy to be able to bring some of the amazing oils home for ourselves and as gifts. Would definitely recommend this trip and Barcelona Discovery. Melanie was just awesome to work with!

This is a terrific tour. This is must for folks that like food and great olive oil. The tour shared all facets of the growth of olive trees and how olive oil is pressed. The sharing of all the different types of oil made from the different olives was very educational. I recommend this tour for everyone. The tour guide and the Olive Oil Company employees were more than fantastic. The pride in their work was
very evident. The tasting experience, wine and tapas were exceptional.
